These Monotype prints are mostly made using wine foils from various California And Oregon wineries. I flattened them then inked them up individually then placed them on the plate. The Olympic Diver will be done over and over with various internal designs. She was done first in water and now the wine foils. They are all 22" x 15" one of a kinds.
You can also see monotypes from my "Keys to Water" series. Having lived on the Islands of the Florida Keys, I wanted to try to portray these waters in an abstract way that would due them justice. I found this nearly impossible. There are rivers running through the oceans, valleys on it's floor and sunken lost and forgotten treasures. I will struggle my whole life to make art inspired from these amazing waters.
The monotype prints are done on plexiglass plates. Once they have been hand pulled through the press you can never get another image like the one in front of you. The foils, when pressed and inked make the most beautiful designs and embossments. They almost look like ancient coins. I am excited to use them in different ways, colors and designs. Stay tuned for future images. If you would like to learn more, click here to join my mailing list.
