Oils were my first medium.  I studied with this artist in West Texas who held her lessons at her house.  The house was in the middle of a grove of pecan trees that had been planted in the shape of Texas.  I still love the way it smells and how easily it can be blended on the canvas.  But it's toxicity and difficulty with cleaning it up has lead me to acrylics.  But I may return.

About the Images

I made "Frida and Her Bostons" for the birth of my niece Stassa so she could have some strong women artist role models in her room while growing up.  The three Boston portraits are my brother's dog, Sailor and my two, Pilot and Orbit.  Sailor and Pilot are now deceased but Orbit live with me still.  Pilot was my boat dog in the Florida Keys and was often my model.  He was an excellent swimmer.

As I was creating the Aqua-Pals and the In-syc Series I was also experimenting with acrylics.  That is why half of them are in oils and the others in acrylics.
